Details
Wallace Elliot’s History of Kern County California was the first comprehensive history written on the county, first published in 1883. The book will be a welcome addition to any local history library. Western scholars and collectors, particularly those interested in the early development of Central California will find this book exceptionally useful. The book has been reprinted only once in 1965. At that time, 200 copies were printed.
The book is fully illustrated, as may be seen at a glance, with views of many of the principal residences, ranches, orchards, public buildings, and business houses. Portraits of many of the pioneers appear, as well as of county officers and prominent citizens.
