Read about Colonel Baker’s journey across the United States and how he makes his mark in history as well as Chris Brewer’s quest to learn his family’s history. Rare Baker family-lore is merged with historical research to recount an incredible time in our country’s history when pioneers reached beyond the impossible to achieve their dreams.

Kenneth Smith –
Great story. Well put together. The authors did an outstanding job.
Barbara M Hodges –
Judy is a friend of mine, so of course I bought her book when it became available. I support all of my author friends. What I wasn’t expecting was to love the book.
Discovering anything about Bakersfield wasn’t high on my list of things to do. I’ve only visited the city twice, and it was hot and I couldn’t wait to get back to the cost.
What a surprise to be pulled into a story of discovery, courage, and family.
Colonel Baker’s Field reads like fiction. You are right there as the decision to leave creature comforts behind and take a journey on a wagon trail going west. I loved the entries the children made in their journals.
Read this book for the pioneer story. You don’t need to live in Bakersfield, or even in California or the west coast. The photographs and illustrations are outstanding. I don’t think you will be disappointed.
